Early glassware was formed in molds but around 250 BC the Syrians introduced glass blowing. By the next century, the Romans had embraced the art of glass blowing on a large scale. In the history of glass, the Romans made glassware less expensive and more widely available than before.
History of crystal
Crystal is the form of glass which emulates natural quartz by adding lead oxide. Crystal in the history of glass or history of crystal was developed by English glass makers around 1300. High quality and very transparent glass was invented in 1463 by a Venetian glassblower from the island of Murano.
Automated glass blowing for bottle was invented by Michael J. Owens (1859 - 1923) of Toledo, Ohio. Michael J. Owens' process was patented on February 26, 1895. The method of producing large, flat plates of glass for windows was discovered in 1910 simultaneously by Irving W. Colburn (1861 - 1917) in the US and Emile Fourcault in Belgium.
